This is a unique handmade puukko (Finish type of knife) from the artisan Eerikki Laakso, aka. Kuksaparooni in Enontekiö. Eerikki has been making handicrafts from wood for over 40 years.The knife has a wooden handle with main material from curly birch, and includes a stripe of reindeer antler. The sheath is made of different kinds of wood, leather, and reindeer antler, and has an engraved willow ptarmigan. The knife has a loop made of leather and can be attached to a belt. Hidden on the back side the artist's signature is engravedThe blade is made of carbon steel by the Finnish Laurinmetalli manufacture, and has a length of 10.5 cm (from the tip to the shaft).Total length of the knife (including handle) is 22 cm.
Kuksa Parooni
Kuksa parooni is the pseudonym of Eerikki Laakso. He is the brother of puukko parooni and they share the same work space. Eerikki is making handicrafts from wood since over 40 years, and he is most famous for his excellence in creating "kuksa," a traditional wooden cup made from birch burrs. However, he also makes other handicrafts from wood, such as knives with wooden handles.
